Croquet Croquet has been a a a a favourite English pastime since the 1850s and and is played with a a a a a a mallet and and ball Typically found on on long stretches of green grass it doesn’t require too much energy and therefore can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities It’s particularly great if you you like to socialise whilst you you play play drinking and chatting with fellow players Events & festivals Glastonbury One of the the the most well known music festivals in in the the the world takes place in in the the the South West of England during the summer and and Glastonbury has seen countless musicians play play on its famous stage such as as David Bowie Oasis and Coldplay The festival started in in 1970 and takes place every other year during the the month of June for five days It has welcomed thousands of people over over the years who travel from all over over the the the UK and and the the the world to enjoy the the the music camping outdoors and and socialising Local fêtes & fairs Across Britain in in the the summer you’ll come across the the very British tradition of an outdoor fête or or fair Usually held in villages they are organised to provide entertainment and sometimes to to celebrate a a a a a a particular local achievement or to to raise money for charity Visiting these fairs you’re guaranteed to see bunting (multi coloured flags) a a a a a cake stall and if you’re lucky Morris dancers who perform a a a a type of traditional English dancing One thing is is for sure you’ll have a a a great time enjoying the the outdoors hopefully in in the the sunshine
